Marta Yaneva was born in 1981 in Sofia, Bulgaria. After completing her high school education, she studied opera singing and acting at the National Academy of Music “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov” in Sofia.

She began her singing and acting career as the youngest soloist of the National Musical Theatre “Stefan Makedonski” in Sofia. From 2005 until 2014, she performed on this stage leading soprano roles in some of the most popular operettas and musicals including The Czardas Queen, Countess Mariza, Ball in Savoy, The Duchess of Chicago, I Love My Wife, Miss Saigon, My Fair Lady, The Phantom of the Opera, Evita and West Side Story.

Parallel to her music career, she acted in leading and supporting roles in several national and international TV productions (Tales of the Physics and Astronomy, Ljudmil & Russlana, He & She, Hannibal – Rome’s Worst Nightmare, BBC) and feature films (La Fuga degli Innocenti, awarded at the Fipa Film Festival, The Abandoned awarded at the Catalonian International Film Festival). She was also the brand ambassador for M-Tel-Vodafone and DSK-Bank Bulgaria in TV commercials and magazine advertisements.

In 2008, she moved to Leipzig, Germany, where she completed a Master Class in singing and acting at the University of Music and Theatre “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” in Leipzig, and continued working as an actress, performing leading singing roles in several TV and cinema productions, including among others In aller Freundschaft (ARD, MDR), Akte Ex (ARD, MDR). Later she was casted for leading and supporting roles in the crime series SOKO Leipzig (ZDF), the feature film Goodbye Mama (Special Award at the Biennale 2010), the TV mini-series Donne in Gioco (Rai 1) and the TV series Herr und Frau Bulle (ZDF).

Marta is currently working as a freelance singer. With selected colleagues and friends from the United States, Guatemala, England, Israel and Germany, Marta and Paul Foulkes founded the band "DRAGONflies" and offer a colorful musical program from classical musicals to jazz and modern pop music.
